Strong winds, severe convective weather and sea fog pose direct threats to navigation safety and fishing operation efficiency. Traditional weather assessment relying on human experience suffers from significant errors and data lag, failing to provide real-time accurate meteorological parameters including sea surface wind speed & direction, temperature, humidity and visibility. The fleet required a reliable integrated onboard meteorological monitoring system capable of withstanding highly saline and humid offshore environments.

3. Hotech Customized Solution 

 

A full set of Hotech professional onboard meteorological hardware is mounted on an integrated pole, consisting of multiple specialized sensors:

 

1) Cup Anemometer & Wind Vane

Engineered to withstand severe sea wind impacts, it delivers precise real-time readings of instantaneous and average wind speed and direction. It enables early warning of sudden gusts to prevent vessel capsizing and fishing gear damage.

 

2) Infrared Forward-Scatter Visibility Sensor

Measures visibility during foggy or rainy offshore conditions and triggers early low-visibility alarms to mitigate collision risks in nearshore waters.

 

3) Radiation-Shielded Temperature & Humidity Sensor

Adopts a double-layer ventilated anti-radiation louver housing to block direct sunlight and seawater splashes, capturing accurate ambient temperature and humidity readings for sea fog and rainfall prediction.

 

4) Integrated Anti-Corrosion Mounting Pole

Marine-grade hot-dip galvanized and plastic-sprayed pole with outstanding salt fog resistance. Modular layered brackets are fitted with fully waterproof sealed cable joints to support long-term vessel operation at sea.

 

5) Supporting Data Acquisition & Control Cabinet

Deck-mounted central control unit aggregates data from all sensors with local real-time storage. It connects to display terminals in the wheelhouse, allowing captains to view complete meteorological data from the cockpit.

 

 

4. On-Site Project Implementation

 

1) On-Vessel Survey & Position Matching

Hotech field technicians boarded the vessel to survey deck installation zones. We selected unobstructed, airflow-neutral positions clear of masts and railings to guarantee accurate meteorological data collection.

 

2) Anti-Corrosion Reinforced Installation

Vessel-specific fasteners secure the main pole. All cable connectors receive dual waterproof and anti-salt fog sealing treatment, while shock-absorbing gaskets are fitted under sensor brackets to reduce equipment wear caused by hull vibration.

 

3) Full Equipment Calibration & Commissioning

Post-installation, technicians calibrate wind sensors, visibility detector and temperature-humidity probes one by one. Data acquisition terminals are fully debugged to ensure stable, low-latency data transmission without packet loss.

 

4) Crew Operation Training

We provided hands-on training for captains and crew covering real-time data viewing, routine simple maintenance and basic troubleshooting guidelines for extreme sea conditions, alongside printed operation manuals.
